Juliehad felt flipped because of Bryce’ s brilliant bright eyes at a very early age and began to pay court to him. But at first he was fed up with her and tried his best to get away from
her stalking. However, being misunderstood and being looked down upon, Juliestarted to reconsider her love to Bryce, especially when her favorite jewel--the sycamore tree was cut down. She even refused to chat with Bryce after that he had done a set of foolish deed which really broke her heart. On the other hand, influenced by his grandfather and Julie’ s optimism, Bryce began to agree with Julie’ s belief and finally he found he had a big crush on her and felt flipped in turn. In the end, Bryce rebuilt a sycamore tree and won back Julie’ s love.
This film told a simple romance about a determined girl and an ignorant boy.But the plot of the film was a subtle statement, from the perspective of two people watching the same issue. It shaped vivid roles which exactly reminded audience of their early puberty.
More significantly, the film taught me that we ought to treasure magnificent views and right values rather than property. The two protagonists are so lucky that they had life mentors to director them. What the litter couple had gained from the love affairs is not each other’ s love but also ,more importantly ,admirable personality that will accompany them for a lifetime.
The plot of the film is a subtle statement, from the perspective of two people watching the same issue. Although only a small boy and small girl story, but he moved that noise. Two families with two children, also see people with different personalities. Memory of my grandfather on my grandmother, because of their age precipitation perception of life; the girl's father, the brothers take care of, appreciation of natural beauty, optimism and indifferent to life; also conceal the inferiority of his heart, boy.
The most shocking is the girl sitting in the fig tree to see the scenery, vast, magnificent. People seem to have such a moment, when a man began to wake up, start thinking, start moving, and Bryce, the attitude of Julie, from resentment, to doubt, from compassion, to accept, make me feel very real A child's thinking. When you are 12 years old to 13 years in such a stage, you will have a lot of things confused. You do not know who you are, you do not know how to do next. At this point there is a mentor and guide is a very important thing. This should normally be the role of the mother or father, but in this film, the father himself to the world full of anger. Bryce is lucky, he had a grandfather in life to tell him who he is, he should become a kind of person. Julie is very lucky, she has a family to give her the right values. The value of her own with a strong self-awareness, she knows what she wants. We can see such a family, giving them the right values, the children of other families can benefit from it, to seek their own value.
In addition the film also makes a kind of remembrance of childhood, and suddenly feel that grew up to have good personal accompanied
She's mad about the boy. But boys being boys, he doesn't share her enthusiasm. Not at first. She's a tween stalker, if they'd used that word for needy, pushy, too-interested suitors back in the early '60s.
But she has a quality that makes them seem destined to be together. If only he could see that quality. If only he'd start passing those character tests life tosses in front of him. If only he could stop letting her down.
"Flipped" is Rob Reiner's sad, sly and witty might-be-romance between Julie (Madeline Carroll) and Bryce (Callan McAuliffe), a tale told, alternately, from each person's point of view.
Julie is working her way toward getting "my first kiss." And she's decided it's to be with Bryce.
Bryce, from the instant he moves into her neighborhood, deals with Julie with "strategic avoidance."
As we see the way each one sees the landmarks in their young suburban lives in the early 1960s, the often-sentimental Reiner ("The Bucket List," "Stand By Me') ladles out genuine moments of heart, and genuine doubts. We sympathize first with Bryce's resistance — just because SHE wants something doesn't mean he has to give it. Then we grasp Julie's growing disappointment at Bryce's rejection and peer-pressured hostility.
Life doesn't have happy endings and Reiner, who co-wrote this adaptation of a Wendelin Van Draanen novel, never lets us take for granted that "Flipped" will deliver one. It's the bittersweet touch that makes this unusual film stand out, and has helped make it such a challenge for Warner Brothers to market.
The kids are spot-on, with Carroll playing the tougher role. Is Julie annoying, stubborn, or just mature for her age? Why can't she pick up the hints that Bryce isn't interested? McAuliffe makes Bryce age-appropriate in his responses. He doesn't want to be mean, but she's pushing him into it.
The adults in this world are their parents — uptight Anthony Edwards and Rebecca DeMornay set examples for Bryce, and the struggling but not sweating it Aidan Quinn and Penelope Ann Miller do the same for Julie. The one person who can see past the kids' differences is Bryce's granddad, played with a homey warmth by John Mahoney.
"A girl like that doesn't live next door to everyone," he tells his grandson. Who ignores him. "That girl has iron backbone." He calls her "iridescent." Bryce can't see it.
It's a bit too "Wonder Years" at times, but the odd two-narrators gimmick plays right into the film's "flip" in structure. Sooner or later, we know Bryce is going to wake up and see those qualities grandpa sees. The way this story plays with our expectations, there's a very good chance it'll be too late.
And after appreciating each person's point of view, seeing the pros and cons of this potential relationship, it's that marvelous uncertainty, doubt and potential for dashed hopes that give "Flipped" its novelty, a flipped take on tween-to-teen romance that make it such a minor gem.
Should animals be trained to help humans
In recent years, there is no denying that animals are increasingly imbedded into our life, which has ignited the hot debate whether animals should be trained to help humans. To some degree, animals play several roles which man can notsubstitute for. There are strong grounds for the above view.
First of all, humans relied on animals to get certain jobs done. For example, since dogs have millions of olfactory receptors, they are far superior than humans at tracking down odors. Owing to this reason, dogs are trained to sniff illegal substances in earthquake victims buried beneath the ruins. For another instance, monkeys, born with opposable thumbs in nature, are complete helpmates by picking up objects, clean up spills and unscrewing bottle drops.
What ’s more, pet companionship offers concrete health benefits. Interaction with animals is shown tonot only reduce blood pressure and heart rate, but also alleviate the pressure after a whole day work as well as the emptiness existence among introverts.
Throughout history, human beings and animals are inseparable whole rather than opposing sites. Not only can the trained animals bring invaluable convenience, but also the training process in which people can realize the significance of animals is an efficient publicity. All in all, the idea of training animals to assist man will improve the contrast between human beings and animals.
From the title of this film you can know that it is a story about love.First love.
I saw the film again for my movie review.I think the same film you read it in different times you will have different feelings. So I read it third. When i saw it the first time,i think it’s just a simple love between a little boy and a young girl. From the film i can know a girl called Juli Baker, she like a boy called Bryce Loski.
This story began in 1957’s summer. Juli is a outright girl, when she was in Grade Two she met Bryce Loski the first time, she say“The first day i met Bryce Loski, i flipped. It was those eyes, sth in those dazzling eyes ”. From this sentence i can feel that a little girl met a person who she liked., and there is a feeling through her heart, we called flipped. I think it ’s a magic that you meet a person and you got some feeling in your heart. The scene make me remind that a boy who i liked first time , i still remember the feeling. You want to see him everyday and try to make good friends with him.
In the other side, what about Bryce？ How does he feel about Juli. Acturelly Bryce isn't so sure. Beginning that day, and for the next five years, Bryce does everything he can do to keep away from Juli. Juli give
a warm pursuit. It makes Bryce confuced, the only things he can do is just looking forward to get in different class in Junior high school.
When they ’re in Junior high school,Bryce ’s grandpa move to live with them. One day,he has talk about Juli with Bryce. The reason is Juli does not come down the tree and her story has been published on the newspaper. There is a big sycamore tree in their community,Juli like to climb on the tree. The higher she got,the more amazed she was by the view.On the sycamore tree, some days the sunsets sould be purple and pink. And some days they were a blazing orange setting fire to the clouds on the horizon. Juli ’s dad had talk to her about Bryce,he said that sometimes you have to look the whole landscape. And one day when Juli on the tree ,It was during one of those sunsets that her father’s idea of the whole being great more than the sum of its parts moved from her head to her heart. When there are some people try to cut down the tree,Juli’s father try to persuade her and say“It ’s time to come down”I think it’s look like to tell her It ’s time to review the relationship with Bryce.During this time,Juli get a review about herself and Bryce.
Bryce grandfather say”Some of us get dipped in flat, some in satin, some in gloss. But every once in a while you find someone who's iridescent, and when you do, nothing will ever compare. ” i love this sentence very much, It’s to tell us It is not a lack of beauty of life.It is our lack of discovery.
On their family meal , in Bryce’s room he was in troubled with what he should wear to meet Juli , but also he didn ’t want Juli know his thought. This scene is very funny, the director vividly show the subtle feeling in Bryce heart. That night Bryce say ”Juli Baker was out of my life .Or , more accurately i was out of hers” This is the summary of Juli’s grow.
At the end of this story Bryce go to Juli’s house and plante a tree in her garden and Juli forgive him.At the beginning Bryce is cowardice, after a number of things he change his view of Juli and like this girl.Biologucally speaking, girl mature ealier,Juli always reflect on herself. The higher she got, the more she had.She is a very smart girl , she ’s not only follow Bryce blindly , but also self-examination.She teach us , you should find a person who make you be better. That’s the true love and its essence.
